Below about 5 mm of remaining teak we recommend full renewal; above it, local repair and re-caulking. We decide by measuring on board and put it in writing.
When is it needed?
- Seams are lifting or come away with a fingernail
- Screw heads or bungs are showing
- Surface is ridged and holds water
- Damp or water reaching the cabin below
- Thickness survey shows under 5 mm
How we do it
- 01Survey
Thickness measured on board, photo report; repair or renewal, with reasons, in writing.
- 023D template
The deck is 3D-scanned, net m² calculated; hatches, gratings and fittings go into the digital template.
- 03Panels in the workshop
Burmese teak (10–12 mm) panels made in Göcek to the template, seams pre-caulked.
- 04Strip-out
Old teak removed section by section, substrate cleaned and faired; the deck is never fully exposed.
- 05Bonding
Panels bonded with marine adhesive under vacuum/weights, full cure time respected.
- 06Sanding and handover
Whole surface sanded, seams checked, photo handover, 12-month warranty.
When does a deck need renewal?
If the teak is below about 5 mm, seams are lifting, screw heads are showing or water reaches the deck below, local repairs rarely last. We measure on board and send a photo report.
How we work
We 3D-scan the area and calculate the net square metres. Panels are made in our workshop to the yacht’s template. Strip-out and fitting on board are done in sections, so the deck is never fully exposed.
Materials
10–12 mm Burmese teak with marine-grade adhesive and caulking. Swim platforms, cockpits and stairs included.
Teak or EVA teak?
Which suits you? We bring samples of both to the survey.
| Burmese teak | EVA teak | |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Classic and larger yachts, main deck | Swim platforms, cockpits, speedboats, RIBs |
| Look | Natural grain, silvers with age | Teak look, colour stays constant |
| Maintenance | Washing, yearly cleaner, seam checks | Soap and water; no oil or varnish |
| Weight | Heavier (10–12 mm solid) | Lighter |
| In the sun | Stays warm, not hot | Dark colours can get hot; choose light |
| Lifespan | 10–15 years (with care) | 4–5 years |
| Time on board | Weeks (shorter with workshop panels) | Days |
| Cost | High | Medium |

Care: do / don’t
- Wash with salt water and a soft brush, across the grain
- Mild teak cleaner once a year
- Fix lifting seams early
- Pressure washing (erodes the grain, lifts seams)
- Hard or wire brushes, coarse sanding
- Teak oil or varnish – damages seams and surface
Frequently asked questions
How long does a teak deck renewal take?
It depends on the area. Because panels are built in our workshop, time on board is short. You get a written schedule after the survey.
Repair or full renewal?
We check remaining thickness and the substrate. If there is enough teak left we recommend local replacement and re-caulking; if not, we explain why a full renewal is needed.
My yacht is not in Göcek. Can you still do it?
Yes. We work at the yacht’s berth anywhere on the Turkish coast, including Fethiye, Marmaris, Bodrum, Didim and Antalya.
Is there a warranty?
Yes, 12 months on workmanship and materials.
