A conversion or a new boat: we prepare the signed plans, calculations, permit file and production plan, and follow the work until it is completed to the plans. Projects are led by naval architect and marine engineer Barış Gökçek.
When do you need it?
- Lengthening the boat, adding a swim platform or flybridge
- Raising passenger capacity on a day-trip boat
- Building a boat from scratch
- Plans for a harbour master conversion permit
- A change that needs stability, weight or strength calculations
- Technical report for insurance and surveys
How we do it
- 01Survey
On board or from photos we agree what is to be done and whether a permit is needed.
- 02Measuring and 3D scan
The boat or the area concerned is captured to the millimetre.
- 03Plans and calculations
Arrangement, structure and the required calculations are prepared; the effect of the change on the boat is assessed.
- 04Review and permit
For boats that are not classed, the plans go to the GMO (Chamber of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers) for review; the application file goes to the harbour master.
- 05Production plan
Work sequence, material list and detail drawings are prepared; the shipyard or builder works to them.
- 06Supervision and handover
Each stage is checked on site and recorded with photos; the conformity process is completed before registration.
Signed conversion plans and permit file
Lengthening, adding a swim platform, flybridge or hardtop, raising passenger capacity. In Turkey, boats that will be 12 m or longer once the work is finished, or that will carry more than 12 passengers, need harbour master approval before the work starts. We prepare plans signed by a registered freelance naval architect and follow the application file and, for boats that are not classed, the review by the Chamber of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (GMO).
New boat design and build plans
General arrangement, structure and outfitting plans plus a production plan, for owners building their own boat and for builders. The build itself is done to these plans at a shipyard or at the builder’s facility. Boats that will be 12 m or longer, or that will carry more than 12 passengers, need harbour master approval before the build starts; we prepare the permit file.
Construction supervision
We check on site that the work follows the approved plans, record every stage with photos and run the conformity process before registration.
Measuring, 3D scanning and technical reports
We measure the existing boat to the millimetre with a handheld scanner and draw the project from that data. Findings, risks and scope in one document, in English or Turkish.

Frequently asked questions
Does my change need approved plans?
Work that changes length, beam or depth, changes gross tonnage, adds a deck or mast, or takes passenger capacity above 12 counts as a conversion. Boats that will be 12 m or longer once the work is finished, or that will carry more than 12 passengers, need harbour master approval before it starts. Not sure? Send photos and we will tell you.
Who signs the plans?
Plans are delivered signed by a member of the Chamber of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (GMO) who holds a freelance naval architect registration. For boats that are not classed, this signed set goes to the Chamber review.
How long does it take?
Set at the survey. The harbour master decides within 25 days at most; the time for plans and the GMO review depends on the scope.
Who does the build or conversion?
A shipyard or builder, working to the plans and production plan we prepare. As construction supervisors we check that the work follows the plans.
Do you offer scanning on its own?
Yes, we can scan and model for another company’s production.
